Hi, I'm Anthea and welcome to Rainbow Nourishments! I love talking about food and get really excited about ice cream.
I currently live in Canberra, Australia's capital... but am a Sydney-sider at heart! I grew up in Sydney, appreciate its diversity and wow, all, the, food.
Oh, I also happen to be a food blogger, creator of the Instagram account Rainbow Nourishments, freelance recipe developer, food photographer and chef. I love sharing wholesome vegan recipes with a twist and am particularly fond of baking.
My love for creativity, people and food
My childhood was deeply embedded in food because my parents owned restaurants. They cooked everything from Chinese to Italian to French food! As a kid, I learnt how to peel carrots, pipe cream on cakes and prepare food for weddings.
I actually never planned to be a food blogger! Over 10 years, I completed a double degree majoring in Politics, Policy and Art History (yes 3 majors) with Honours. I also worked in Federal Government in Indigenous and disability issues.
However, I always loved being creative and working directly with people.
My Rainbow Nourishments journey
In 2014, I created Rainbow Nourishments to meet like-minded people and to share my love of food.
At the beginning, Rainbow Nourishments was an Instagram account, food blog AND a vegan cake business. Noticing a trend here?! I made bespoke cakes for customers' birthdays, weddings and everything under the sun. I also used produce hundreds of cakes each week (!!) for popular cafes around Canberra.
I closed my cake business in 2019 so I could focus on my true love - making recipes accessible to everyone.
Under Rainbow Nourishments, I've also been lucky to:
- Host several pop-up dinners and high-teas
- Travel internationally and around Australia to host workshops
- Publish my first print cookbook 'Incredible Plant-Based Desserts' (2019).
My food philosophy
Rainbow Nourishments is not just about the kitchen but nourishing people on a deeper level. I believe that food should encourage people to connect with loved ones and be a way to practice kindness to yourself, others and the environment.
All of Rainbow Nourishments' recipes are vegan as I believe it's more sustainable for the world and minimises harm to animals.
I also experiment with recipes which are gluten-free, refined sugar-free and nut-free. I firmly believe that everyone should have access to delicious food!
I hope you can join me on my journey to nourish myself and, on the way, nourish yourself too!
